With newer versions of WordPress this is even easier. Simply paste your video code into the “Excerpt” field in your “edit post” screen within your WordPress Dashboard.

In your article you talk about using Viper’s video plug-in, and then say that one solution is to manually create the excerpt. So how does one manually insert the video quick tags into the excerpt?

omg, I’d been going to so many sites that were telling me that images were stripped out from the excerpt. Thanks for showing me the light! I think I wasted more than an hour trying to find a plugin that would do it… and it was in front of me the entire time.
