True I agree with you blogspot is 10000000 times good then Wordpress. Blogspot is more flexible than Wordpress and google is crawling blog spot blogs more than Wordpress.
Another thing is there are lots of template is available on internet you can find Blogspot themes easily

Nice explanation about difference of Wordpress and Blogspot

Thanks for sharing. Keep Posting
Thanks a lot

Yes Miriam,

All of your points correct, censorship is now becoming major issue. Many of corporate organizations banning wp.com in dns level. For serious bloggers another issue is "ADS" Not allowed on wp.com and they will run their own ads on popular posts of wp.com users :(.
Thats why recenlt moved from wp.com to my own hoting. No need to fear of losing google page rank . you can see my post on this migration at

Yes dedicated servers are definitely necessary. There is no way a very popular blog called be run on shared hosting. On most shared accounts you would use up your server usage long before your bandwidth. However most people will never get to that point and will happily run their blogs on a shared hosting plan with no problems at all. It's only if you receive huge amounts of traffic that this would become a problem.

Not all bloggers are serious. I couldn't care less what traffic I get to my personal blog. It's just there for people I know to keep track of my ramblings. It's also a nice repository for my photo collection. I'm never going to get lots of traffic to it as it simply doesn't have any content of interest to people and I'm happy with that. The content is there for me and anyone who knows me personally. The only reason I'm using my own domain is because I like to have full control over my site. If I wasn't such a control freak I'd quite happily run it on WordPress.com. My other sites/blogs are more serious and I wouldn't consider moving them to a free service. It all depends on what you are looking to achieve with your blogging IMO.

@vps hosting - I can see your point. Buying a domain name is inexpensive (I buy them for $5-$6), and if someone isn't willing to invest in that cost, then it means they are missing a certain level of seriousness.

@ryan - I think that vps hosting's point is a good one - if someone's not willing to invest in the small cost of a domain, it's not that they shouldn't be allowed to blog, but that they probably won't succeed since they aren't invested in the endeavor, and they aren't concerned with looking as professional as possible.

As for hosting costs - do you really think sites need dedicated servers anymore? Almost every hosting provider these days offers unlimited bandwidth and hard drive space (except mine of course, which sucks). That means that for about $10 a month you can theoretically host any number of big sites, and get all of the bandwidth you need (hopefully).

vps-webhosting - Why on earth should someone quit blogging because they cant' afford a domain name? Being poor is not a reason not to do somet hing which can be done for free.

And it's not just a domain name you need to purchase, you also need hosting, which for a busy blog could be require a dedicated server which if you don't know how to manage could cost you over US$100 per month, so more like US$1200 per year which is quite a large expense for something you could have hosted on WordPress.com for free.

There is also the issue of time and knowledge, many people don't have time to manage their own hosting or learn how to do it themselves. For those people it is much more appropriate and convenient to let WordPress.com handle it.

Quitting your hobby just because you don't want to shell out for your own hosting seems silly to me.
