Integrating facebook with WordPress and vice versa
I’ve been collecting links to WordPress plugins that link WordPress blogs to facebook profiles, but Adam Hirsch has beaten me to it and put together an excellent list of WordPress-facebook plugins that allow you to cross post articles and photos to and from Facebook, display users, status, and share posts on facebook.
When I started using facebook, I discovered a built-in way to make your facebook notes display new posts on your blog. Here’s how to do it:
- Go to your profile, and click on More under Applications.
- Click on Notes. Under My Notes, on the right-hand side, there is a link that says Edit settings. Click on that.
- Add your blog RSS feed to your settings.
Now, every time you update your blog, the post appears in your Notes, and your facebook friends will see it.
The disadvantage to this is if you have more than one blog or site, then you have to choose one to publish on your profile. In that case, it’s probably worthwhile to check out the plugins listed on Adam Hirsch’s site.

I found a problem with Wordbook. It doesn’t seem to work in conjunction with multiple blogs, ie: you can only feed posts from one blog to it.
Ryan – try out what I described in my feed mashup post. I’m using it now on Facebook, and it works great. All new posts from all my blogs appear as notes in Facebook via one RSS feed.
The problem with all routes I’ve seen to import notes so far is that you can view most of the blog post without leaving Facebook. And the new WordPress setup I’m preparing for dunedinicehockey.co.nz will have VERY short posts. So people wont even need to leave Facebook, they’ll be able to view the entire news posts within Facebook whereas I’d rather them leave Facebook altogether to get them hooked into the site rather than relying on Facebook.
Another problem with Wordbook is that you can’t use it with multiple profiles at the same time, ie: I’d like to have members of my site display the posts on their Facebook profile, but Wordbook only works with one profile at one time.
Oh well, will probably have to go the notes route unless another solution comes along

I did hear one way of getting round the disadvantage you mention is to use Yahoo Pipes, but I have not tried this yet.
Hey, for some reason I find that it imports the notes correctly, but the content of them is only my nickname rather than the full post – any idea why? cheers
