I’ve started dabbling with the Genesis framework lately, trying to see what all the rage is about.

For one of my recent projects, I created a Custom Post Type called “Classes” using WPGenerate (the guys behind WPGenerate spoke at WordCamp Israel 2014).

I wanted to display posts from said Classes custom post type via the Genesis Featured Post Widget, that comes bundled with Genesis, but unfortunately the widget only accepts… you guessed it…posts.

So, I did some searching and the results led me to a really outdated plugin that didn’t work for me at all: Genesis Featured Widget Amplified

Then, eventually I found this plugin which is awesome and did exactly what I needed: Genesis Sandbox Featured Content Widget which I quickly marked as a favorite plugin in my WordPress.org account. This widget lets you choose to display content from posts, pages, and custom post types.
