Time to update WordPress…again. Sigh.

| June 23, 2007 | 2 Comments
Well folks, the time has come again to update your WordPress sites. And, like always, the update isn't really optional, since it covers some security issues in addition to bug fixes. I love WordPress - it's easy to use, flexible, has a large and robust user community, and ... View Post

Problems with WordPress 2.2

| June 4, 2007 | 3 Comments
Of course there are problems. I should have followed my own rule of not fixing things that aren't broken. Here are the problems:
  • After an upgrade, funny symbols appear all across the posts. Generally they appear where apostrophes are in words (see my post titled "Aizatto's Related Posts Plugin"? for a

Fantastico now offers WordPress 2.2. upgrade and install

    | June 4, 2007 | 1 Comment
Fantastico has now been set up to allow upgrades and installations of WordPress 2.2. So I took the plunge and upgraded almost all of the sites that I manage. Each site took about five minutes, and so far I haven't noticed any problems. I want to take this opportunity to laud the praises of Fantastico, ... View Post

WordPress 2.2 has been released to much fanfare etc. Unfortunately, this release does not include tags as had been planned, but apparently the new version deals with 240 bugs, and has some other features including Widgets support, a new Blogger importer, and protecting your blog from breaking ... Contactify is a new service that is supposed to allow people to contact you while hiding your email address, and thus preventing comment spam. I say supposed to, because I'm having trouble figuring out what the advantage of the service is. Here's a play-by-play of my experience:

CSS Import's latest entry in its gallery is one of the most amazing sites I've seen. It is the online CV and portfolio of Danny Blackman, a 3rd year BA Communications & New Media student at University of Leeds, UK and a freelance designer & developer. This is ... View Post

    A vulnerability in WordPress 2.1.2

    | March 20, 2007 | 0 Comments
It seems that another vulnerability has been discovered, this time in WordPress 2.1.2. According to Secunia, it can be "be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting attacks." Doesn't sound very nice. This just justifies my Dad's approach to computer and software upgrades - if it ain't broke, ... View Post

FireFox keeps crashing while working in WordPress

    | March 17, 2007 | 17 Comments
Does anyone else have this problem? Lately Firefox has been crashing very often when I am working on posts in the WYSIWYG editor. It tends to happen when I try to enter a link. This is obviously very frustrating. Anyone have any advice? View Post

    I don’t like AdSense

    | February 25, 2007 | 1 Comment
As both a publisher and a reader of blogs, I don't like AdSense. As a reader, I find that the ads look too much like the content and I have to scan pages until I find what I really want to read, and what I really want to ignore (the AdSense!). People trying to ... View Post
